AI-Accelerated Delivery
Every systems integrator now claims to use AI in their delivery methodology. Most of what they mean is that their consultants use generative AI tools to draft documents faster. That is useful, but it is not what the board had in mind when they asked whether AI could reduce the $80M program budget.
Genuine AI-accelerated delivery means identifying the specific activities in your program where AI can replace or augment human effort at scale: automated test script generation, AI-assisted data mapping, machine-generated functional specifications from process recordings, automated regression testing across configuration changes. These are not hypothetical. They are measurable interventions with quantifiable impact on SI headcount and timeline.
We help program leaders distinguish between AI theatre (the SI’s slides about their AI capabilities) and AI substance (which specific workstreams will require fewer people or fewer weeks because of AI intervention). The result is an AI-augmented delivery model with clear baselines, measurable targets, and contractual mechanisms to ensure the SI delivers on the efficiency claims they are making.
A 200-person SI engagement at blended rates of $1,500 to $2,500 per day represents $6M to $10M per month. A 15% efficiency gain from properly integrated AI delivery tools saves $900K to $1.5M per month. Over an 18-month program, that is $16M to $27M. The SI has no structural incentive to deliver that efficiency to you unless the contract requires it. Without independent advisory on what AI can actually deliver, the savings accrue to the SI as margin, not to the client as cost reduction.
If the SI is claiming AI savings but you cannot see them in the budget, we should talk.
