AI Agent Governance

The speed at which organizations can deploy AI agents has outpaced the speed at which they can govern them. A team with access to a cloud platform and a language model API can build and deploy a functional agent in weeks. The cost of building governance after the incident is an order of magnitude higher than building it before. It is not only the remediation cost. It is the eighteen-month organizational flinch where every AI initiative requires a six-month approval process because the board got burned once.

The governance framework typically takes six to eight weeks to design and implement for the first wave of agents. After that, each subsequent agent deploys into an existing structure rather than creating a new one.
